Kalidas Jayaram's next film with Kiruthiga for Zee5 goes on floors

The actor’s last Tamil film, Oru Pakka Kathai too, had a direct release on Zee5,

It was announced recently that director Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi is donning the director’s hat again after Vanakkam Chennai and Kaali which released in 2013 and 2018 respectively. The untitled project, which has Kalidas Jayaram and Taya Ravichandran playing lead roles, will have a direct release on Zee5. On Monday, the film, which is said to have travel as its backdrop, went on floors in Chennai with an official ceremony. The team planted a sapling before shooting and posed for a few pictures. The news was announced from the social media account of the digital platform. Their tweet read, “We are super excited to announce ZEE5's next with Director Kiruthiga Udhaynidhi. The shoot began today with the planting of saplings!”

The event was attended by Kiruthiga, Kalidas and Tanya among others. Richard M Nathan, who was the cinematographer for the director’s previous outings, has been roped in to crank the camera, while Simon K King has been brought on board to compose music, apart from Kishore for editing. The project was officially announced by Kiruthiga two months ago through a press statement after she revealed it during an interaction on a Twitter space session. In an earlier interview with DTNext, Kiruthiga had said, “I took some time for this film as I wanted a good story. It has come out well now. The film speaks about the journey of life.”

Kalidas is not new to OTT releases. His last Tamil film Oru Pakka Kathai had a direct release on Zee5 while Paava Kathaigal was released on Netflix and Putham Pudhu Kaalai on Amazon Prime. The young actor has the multi-starrer Vikram and the bilingual Jack and Jill in his kitty. On the other hand, Tanya Ravichandran has Maayon and Sam Anton’s untitled Atharvaa-starrer in Tamil, apart from Raja Vikramarka in which she will be seen paired opposite Kartikeya Gummakonda.
