Jayatheertha's 'Kaiva' is based on a real-life incident that occurred in 1983 in Bengaluru
Jayatheertha Jayanna is essentially known for his romantic and human dramas that are often laced with genre elements like mystery and crime. However, with Kaiva, it is evident that the filmmaker has attempted something new again as the maiden teaser reveals the larger-than-life palette of his film. With a young 'mass' hero like Dhanveerrah as his leading man, Jayatheertha has quite apparently tried his hand at action in Kaiva and by all means, this new attempt of his looks engaging.
Although the first teaser of Kaiva does not let out the story of the film, what we do get to see is the interesting blend of 1980s or 'retro' aesthetics and new-age action choreography. Dhanveerrah, who plays the titular character in the film, will be seen in an unorthodox role and joining him is popular TV actress Megha Shetty, who plays the female lead. The same action teaser also offers a taste of the romance angle that is part of the narrative.

The cast also includes Dinakar Thoogudeepa, Jayaram Karthik (JK), Nanda Gopal, Ugram Manju, Raghu Shivamogga, Ramesh Indira and others. Ajaneesh Loknath, who has already delivered two superb soundtracks with Jayatheertha in Bell Bottom and Banaras, has been once again entrusted with the music.

What's also striking about the teaser is the 1980s setting which, we learn, plays a huge role in the film. Jayatheertha Jayanna has revealed in the past that he was inspired to write the film by a real-life incident that occurred in Bengaluru in 1983 and that the story has a strong connection with the city's iconic Karaga festival. Reports tell us that Kaiva would be a December 2023 release but the official announcement regarding the same is yet to be made.
