The movie, which has Vivek Oberoi in a pivotal role, is set for its worldwide theatrical release on July 7
One of the reasons the audience felt closer to the characters and the setting of Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Ayyappanum Koshiyum, which released in theatres in 2020, was Jakes Bejoy’s music that encapsulated the sounds of the land. For their upcoming collaboration Kaduva, the composer seems to have repeated the feat and judging from the first promo song – Pala Palli, it does seem to provide astounding results too.
The track, which was released through Prithviraj Sukumaran’s social media pages as well as Magic Frames Music YouTube channel, has a folkish touch to it. Rendered by Soul of Folk, it’s a fast number that also gives the audience glimpses of the characters in the movie, directed by Shaji Kailas and scripted by Jinu V Abraham.
The video offers us the first glimpse of Vivek Oberoi’s Joseph Chandy in the police uniform as well as Arjun Ashokan’s character. It’s also packed with montages from Prithviraj’s action scenes involving Kaduvakunnel Kuruvachan and the police officers, and a fight sequence at a church festival.
In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Jakes told us that his experience of working in big Telugu movies in the past helped him construct the soundscape for Kaduva, which is a ‘mass’ action entertainer. “It was an education to know how to make a commercially engaging subject into a mass film, and this has helped in Kaduva,” he said.

The movie, which also has Samyuktha Menon, Baiju Santosh and Seema, is currently expected to release in theatres worldwide on July 7. The film, much like Ayyappanum Koshiyum, revolves around an ego clash between Kaduvakunnel Kuruvachan, a wealthy rubber planter, and his acquaintance Joseph Chandy, a top police officer. After an incident that could have been solved with one of them apologising, bruises their respective egos, it escalates into an all-out war between the men.
