The Kannada superstar has an extended cameo in the R Chandru directed film that has Upendra in the lead.
Sudeep has a pivotal cameo in the film
Kabzaa is the film from Sandalwood that is seen as the next in line to take the good name that KGF, 777 Charlie, Vikrant Rona and Kantara have made for the industry forward, in the rest of the country and across the globe as well. There is a lot riding on director-producer R Chandru’s big budget gangster flick, which is coming to theatres on March 17, but in the run-up to its date with audiences, the buzz surrounding it has been on a steady decline, largely owing to the lackluster teaser and the three songs that have been released.
The makers and Kannada film aficionados have now pinned all hope on the trailer, which will renew audience faith in Kabzaa and dispel misconceptions about it being a cheap copy of KGF. Chandru has been maintaining that his film is similar only in terms of the making, and that the most important bit, the story, is vastly different. However, whatever he has revealed to the public so far has not generated much confidence in this statement.
The trailer release had been set for March 3, but according to the latest, it will now be held a day earlier on March 2. This, we are told, is to accommodate Kiccha Sudeep’s busy schedule, as he has a Celebrity Cricket League commitment on March 4 in Bengaluru. The Kannada superstar has already had one mighty hectic weekend days ago, when he was organizing at playing at the Kannada Chalanachitra Cup and then flew to Jaipur within hours to play a CCL match.
So far, Sudeep has not attended any of the Kabzaa events, which began with the song launches in Chennai, Hyderabad and then Sidlaghatta. According to a source, Anand Pandit, who is presenting and distributing the film in the north Indian belt, had insisted that Sudeep be a part of the event to drum up some excitement, as he is the bigger and better-known name on the cast in the market he is catering to. Sudeep has a cameo in the two-part film, as Commissioner Bhargav Bakshi. It is rumoured that he has about 17-18 minutes screen time in the film.
Kabzaa, which has been produced by Chandru, along with Alankar Pandian of Invenio Origin, has Upendra in the lead, along with Shriya Saran. The film’s ensemble cast also includes Shivarajkumar, Nawab Shah, Kabir Duhan Singh, Danish Akthar Saifi, Murali Sharma, Posani Murali Krishna, Anup Revanna, among others.
