The news of the Century Star being in the film in a pivotal cameo has been doing the rounds for a while, although Chandru had not revealed his look in Kabzaa. Netizens school the filmmaker that he should not have revealed it now.
Tomorrow, on March 4, producer-director R Chandru will release the trailer of his next, Kabzaa, in an online launch, after a lot of dithering about whether to do it in Mumbai or Bengaluru. While the filmmaker has not said if there will be an on-ground event for the trailer launch, he is likely to have screening at the Celebrity Cricket League match in Bengaluru tomorrow at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Kabzaa is associated with the Karnataka Bulldozers team as sponsor, and with Kiccha Sudeep, who has a pivotal cameo in the film on the team, chances are high that the trailer will be played at the stadium.
Ahead of the trailer launch, Chandru released a new poster of the film, featuring leading man, Upendra, as well as Kiccha Sudeep and Shivarajkumar. Well, while the news of the Century Star being a part of Kabzaa has been in the public domain for a while, Chandru had not revealed his look from the film, unlike Sudeep, whose character poster as Bhargav Bakshi came out long ago. Today’s new poster has the Hattrick Hero looking uber-cool with a rifle slung across his shoulder.
Kannada film industry (KFI) fans, who have been tracking every development surrounding Kabzaa, have been disillusioned with the lack of buzz for the film, which is only two weeks away from its date with audiences. Many took to social media to criticize Chandru for not taking enough initiative and promoting the film well. As for the new poster, they felt that although the news was not new, the filmmaker should have kept Shivarajkumar’s look under wraps, at least until the release day. Today’s reveal, they reckon is probably because Shivarajkumar will feature in the trailer that’s coming tomorrow.

Kabzaa, according to Chandru, is a film about the rise of an underworld gangster and is set between 1940 and the 80s. The film was entirely shot at specially erected sets, as the team had to recreate that era.
