The R Chandru directed gangster film with Upendra in the lead will be in theatres on March 17
It’s time to start focusing on the second big Kannada film of the year, now that Kranti is already in theatres. The spotlight is now firmly on director R Chandru’s much-awaited Kabzaa, which will be in theatres across the country on March 17. With just over a month and a half to go for the release of his most ambitious project to date, Chandru has just announced that the first song and lyrical video of the film will be launched on February 4 at a grand event to be held in Hyderabad.
In an earlier conversation with us, Chandru had said that the plan would be to have one major update/launch per week. Anand Pandit, who has tied up to present the film in the north India belt has been quoted as saying that the trailer would be released latest by March 3, with an event in Mumbai. Kabzaa, would be the first film from Sandalwood to focus on having these major events in other cities. The practice for most pan-Indian films from the industry has been to bring in media representatives from across the country to Bengaluru and have the trailer/song launch in all the proposed languages. It remains to be seen what the filmmaker has planned for the home audience.
Kabzaa, which Chandru has produced in association with Alankar Pandian of Invenio Origin, is about a gangster who ruled over India, in a story spanning across four decades. The entire film has been shot in specially designed sets. The film has music by KGF fame Ravi Basrur and boasts a massive ensemble cast, including Upendra in the lead, with Kiccha Sudeep, Shriya Saran, Shivarajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Prakash Raj, Samuthirajani, Murali Sharma, Nawab Shah, Kabir Duhan Singh, Danish Akthar Saifi, Pradeep Singh Rawat, Krishna Murali Posani, Pramod Shetty, Anoop Revanna, among others. The film is most likely being presented in two parts, with the first in theatres for Ugadi, in competition with Ganesh’s Baana Daariyalli.
