Director R. Chandru seems to be a relieved man at the moment. While, on the one hand, he preps for the mega release of his most ambitious project to date, Kabzaa, he also appears to be quite content with the film that he has put together over the last three years. "Although I am also the producer of the film, the director in me happier today which means that the producer, too, is happy," he said in a recent interaction that he had summoned as a gesture of appreciation for the local media for their continued support.

Another valid reason for his confidence ahead of the release of Kabzaa is the fact that the film has already done credible business in terms of streaming rights. Many would already know that Kabzaa has been picked up by Amazon Prime Video and the film will soon be part of the select slate of Kannada films on the streaming platform that also includes KGF 2, Kantara and others.

"There's no denying that Amazon Prime has bought Kabzaa for a really big price, one that most pan-India films command today. But that said, they haven't done so without any proper diligence - I took the edited product and proved that we have good content to offer and that's how we were able to do such good business with them," said R. Chandru in the same media gathering, adding, "The people at Amazon Prime told me that there are a lot of buyers today in the market but one sees a dearth of quality filmmakers who can deliver good content. If you were to consider India, S.S. Rajamouli, S. Shankar, Prashanth Neel, etc. get any desired price for the rights to the film but as of today, there are only a handful of filmmakers of that stature. So, if you were to deliver content today that is on par with Hollywood standards, streaming platforms are willing to shell out whopping prices. That's why, as the director of Kabzaa, my goal was to work on good content that is universally appealing instead of limiting my film to a specific few geographical reasons."

Kabzaa, which stars Upendra, Shriya Saran, Kiccha Sudeep, and others, will release worldwide on March 17th with the trailer expected to drop on March 3rd.
