Jyotika's previous film, Ajay Devgn-R Madhavan’s Shaitaan, became a huge Box Office hit
Jyotika, known for her role in South Indian movies, had actually made her debut in films with a Hindi film, Doli Saja Ke Rakhna. The actress is back in Bollywood after 26 long years and two movies featuring her are already in news. While Jyotika made her Bollywood re-debut in Ajay Devgn-R. Madhavan’s Shaitaan, she was supposed to work in Srikanth first. The actress revealed the same in a recent interview.
“I shot Srikanth before Shaitaan. It was my entry into Bollywood so I immediately jumped at it,” Jyotika told Pinkvilla. The actress describes her character in the upcoming film as very strong and important. She believed that there could be a better way to restart her career than Srikanth. It was after the Tushar Hiranandani directorial happened, that Jyotika shot for Shaitaan. The latter, of course, released in theatres first, while Srikanth will be out on May 10.
Jyotika actually made her debut in films with a Hindi movie, Doli Saja Ke Rakhna. The film was a romance-drama directed by Priyadarshan. Released on November 27, 1998, the film, an adaptation of the Malayalam movie Aniyathipraavu, starred Akshaye Khanna and Jyotika in the lead roles.
Shaitaan, inspired for the Gujarati film Ved, was a huge success at the Box Office and now, Jyotika is set to be seen in Srikant opposite Rajkummar Rao. The film is a biopic on Srikanth Bolla , who is a businessman despite his physical and economic shortcomings. Rajkummar plays the role of the visually challenged man on screen. While shooting the film, Jyotika realized that Srikanth has not only become a businessman himself but also helps other visually challenged people by hiring them in his industry. “His journey, his achievement is something incredible. It's a story which is to be told very boldly and proudly,” she felt while working on the movie.
