Justified renewed as miniseries, Timothy Olyphant to reprise his role

Raylan Givens is gearing up for a comeback to make law-breaking criminals quiver in their boots yet again. It was recently announced that the series "Justified," which ended its run in 2015, is returning in the form of a miniseries with star Timothy Olyphant reprising his role.

FX Networks announced the revival of the show on its official social media handles. The post announced that the upcoming limited series is titled Justified: City Primeval, and Olyphant will return as Givens.

According to a report in Collider, the upcoming miniseries will be based on the novel City Primeval: High Noon in Detroit, written by Elmore Leonard. The series will follow the unconventional U.S. Marshal as he lives in Miami with his teenage daughter after leaving Kentucky eight years ago. While in Detroit, he meets a dangerous criminal known as the Oklahoma Wildman, who always managed to evade imprisonment due to the shrewdness of a lawyer, Carolyn Wilder. The series follows the power struggles between the three, as Givens tries to take the criminal down and Wilder tries to stop him.

The miniseries will feature Dave Andron and Michael Dinner as showrunners, writers, and executive producers. Olyphant will also executive produce the series.

Premiering in 2010, Justified ran for six seasons, ending its run in 2015. The series was based on the novella Fire in the Hole, also written by Leonard, who had consulted on the show until he died in 2013.

The show has garnered critical acclaim and has been nominated for eight Primetime Emmy Awards, winning two.

All six seasons of Justified are available to stream on SonyLIV.
