Jungle Cruise: Dwayne Johnson's adventure film to release on Disney+ Hotstar on November 12

After a successful run at theatres worldwide, Jungle Cruise starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt will be available to stream on Disney+ Hotstar.

The movie is one of the many highlights at the first Disney Day. The fantasy adventure will be released on Disney+ Hotstar on November 12.

The movie follows Dr. Lily Houghton, a British botanist and her brother, who seek the help of a river boat captain to travel across rivers in the Amazon in order to find a magical tree. The movie, which is a visual spectacle in itself, is based on the popular Disney theme park attraction of the same name which takes guests across a 1930s themed steamboat ride on different river replicas.

The movie, helmed by Jaume Collet-Serra, also stars Jack Whitehall, Jesse Plemons, Édgar Ramírez and Paul Giamatti.

Jungle Cruise was originally slated for a release in 2020, but was delayed due to the pandemic. Due to concerns over footfalls following a theatrical release, the makers also released the movie simultaneously on a Disney+ Premier Access.

Despite the unfavourable conditions, Jungle Cruise did well, making around $187 million worldwide.

With the success of the movie, Dwayne Johnson also hinted at a sequel for the movie, though an official confirmation is pending.
