Starring Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor, the movie hit theatres on Friday.
JugJugg Jeeyo starring Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor hit theatres around the country today and is receiving good reviews. Director Raj Mehta, who looks to tackle a serious issue such as divorse in a light-hearted manner, has now opened up about the scrutiny comedy has been getting in recent days.
“How you react to a joke depends on whether it reminds you of an experience, and how much you have processed it. I want to [tell people to] stop getting offended. Getting offended is becoming a hobby. But as filmmakers navigate this environment and run the risk of being cancelled, we are always questioning ourselves,” said the director.
He also added that while this is the case, he knows that he cannot offend people devastated by divorces in the name of fun and that he had to strike a balance.
Mehta also said that the movie’s one-liner made him want to do the movie and that he knew that the story had enough scope for comedy. He added that he does not want to only make the audience laugh, but leave them with a thought.
The family entertainer, which revolves around a family who meet up for a reunion with a news to break, has received decent reviews following its release.
“After Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, JugJugg Jeeyo is yet another refreshing family entertainer that hopefully pulls the crowd as it did for the former film. With star performances by all the four lead actors, the film doesn't give much scope for boring moments and is a whole-hearted entertainment, hands down,” read the movie’s review on OTTplay.
Also starring Maniesh Paul and Prajakta Koli in important roles, the movie is bankrolled by Hiroo Yash Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Karan Johar under the banner of Dharma Productions and Viacom18 Studios.
