Though Jonita Gandhi has rendered several dubbed tracks over the years, her catalogue includes only a handful 'bona fide' Kannada songs that came back in 2016.
Jonita Gandhi is arguably one of the most adored singers and live entertainers in the country today. Her repertoire boasts some of the biggest chartbusters of recent times, including Jimikki Ponnu, Arabic Kuthu (both starring Tamil superstar Vijay), Chellama (from Doctor) and the very recent What Jhumka? song from Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, featuring collaborations with the likes of A.R. Rahman, Aniruddh Ravichander, Vishal Shekar, Thaman S and several others.
In the same vein, Jonita has also proven her versatility with a discography that ranges from Hindi and Punjabi to Malayalam and Tamil. In Tamil, especially, she has delivered countless hits over the last few years and it would be fair in saying that she is among the most sought-after and loved singers of her generation.
But quite interestingly, Jonita Gandhi hasn't sung as many Kannada songs as one would have liked her to. Though she has rendered several dubbed tracks over the years, her catalogue includes only a handful 'bona fide' Kannada songs that came back in 2016 (in Apoorva Kasaravalli's Niruttara). The wait, though, will finally be over because the upcoming film Baang, starring Shanvi Srivastava and Raghu Dixit, will feature Jonita's voice.

The third single from Baang, titled Aata, has been sung by Jonita Gandhi with Ritvik Muralidhar composing the tune and Nagarjun Sharma penning the lyrics. The single will be released on August 7 at 6 pm.
Although the team of Baang has shared no information about the upcoming song, one could presume that Jonita's unique vocals would be employed for an intense and powerful, yet melodious, number. Over the years, the Indo-Canadian singer has proven that she is capable of hitting high notes with great precision and control, revealing an impressive vocal range.
Well, August 7 is set to be a bit of a musical treat to fans as along with "Aata" from Baang, they will also get to savour the title track of Hemanth M. Rao's Sapta Sagaradaache Ello. That song, too, is set to drop at 6 pm on August 7.
