Joker 2 Digital Premiere Update

None of us could have ever imagined, even in our wildest dreams, that a sequel to the Joaquin Phoenix-starrer Joker (2019) would go on to become the lowest-grossing comic-inspired movie ever. Joker: Folie à Deux starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, has turned out to be the biggest box-office disappointment of the year. This is especially shocking considering it was one of the most anticipated movies of all time. The film marked Lady Gaga’s debut in the superhero genre as Lee, aka Harley Quinzel. Despite being written and directed by Todd Phillips, who also helmed the 2019 Joker film, it failed to impress fans. The movie has not earned enough to even be considered profitable, let alone a success, and based on current statistics, it may not even break even.

Joker 2 Digital Premiere Update

While Joker: Folie à Deux is still playing in theaters with little hope for redemption, many are now curious about its digital release. According to the latest buzz on the internet, the makers are not taking any further risks by delaying the digital premiere. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming release.

As per Comic Book Movie the makers of Joker: Folie à Deux are planning to release the film on HBO Max on October 29, 2024. Surprisingly, the movie won’t even complete a month in theaters before being available for streaming. There’s no word yet on whether the film will be released in India on the same day as in the West, or if there will be a delay. In India, Joker 2 will be released on JioCinema.

Paul Schrader Slams Joker: Folie à Deux

Paul Schrader, for the uninitiated, is a writer-director responsible for some of Hollywood’s most iconic films. He’s the man behind Martin Scorsese’s cult classics like Taxi Driver and Raging Bull as well as John Flynn’s Rolling Thunder, among others. Schrader recently shared his thoughts on Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga’s Joker: Folie à Deux, and he is far from impressed—he is, in fact, downright critical of the film. Here’s what he had to say.

In an interview with Interview Magazine Paul Schrader shared his experience watching Joker: Folie à Deux. He remarked, “I saw Joker: Folie à Deux. I saw about 10 or 15 minutes of it. I left, bought something, came back, saw another 10 minutes. That was enough. It’s a really bad musical.” When pressed further on what exactly he disliked about the movie, Schrader placed the blame squarely on Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga. “I don’t like either of those people. I don’t like them as actors. I don’t like them as characters. I don’t like the whole thing,” he said. “I mean, those are people who, if they came to your house, you’d slip out the back door.”
