Joker: Folie à Deux Cast Salaries

The day is finally here, and in India, we sit just hours away from the release of one of the most anticipated movies of the year and the only DC release of the year, Joker: Folie à Deux. Starring Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime, aka Arthur Fleck, Folie à Deux—popularly being called Joker 2—has been making a loud buzz for everything that it is expected to achieve, as it is a sequel to the highest-earning R-rated movie ever, holding that title for over half a decade before Deadpool and Wolverine left it behind recently. It is also the movie that gave Phoenix his first Oscar for Best Actor. So the pressure is high. The makers, of course, have been careful to respect the first part while making the sequel, and that brings in Lady Gaga. But the world has been curious about one more thing, and that is the cast salaries.

Joker: Folie à Deux Cast Salaries

Joker: Folie à Deux aka Joker 2 for the uninitiated, takes off from where the first film left. The trailer takes us into the life of Arthur as he is now being put on trial for the crimes he committed in the first part. But in prison, he meets Harley Quinn, who introduces him to music. As per the latest reports, the salaries of the cast have been quite interesting and hefty, to say the least. While Joaquin Phoenix is indeed taking home a massive paycheck considering he is now an Academy Award winner and reprises this role for the first time since the victory, Lady Gaga is second in line but earning much less than her co-star. Read on to know everything you should about the same.

According to Showbiz Galore Joaquin Phoenix has been paid $20 million to reprise his role as the Clown Prince of Crime. Now, this looks like a groundbreaking paycheck when you realize this is five times what he was paid for the first film. Reports say that the actor was paid $4.5 million for the 2019 movie. Lady Gaga’s salary is much more than what Phoenix got for the first part but still considerably less than his current salary. The pop sensation is getting $12 million for embodying Harley Quinn in the film.

Other than the two, Zazie Beetz is also in the movie, reprising Sophie, and is getting $500,000 for it. Brendan Gleeson follows her with a $450,000 salary, and Catherine Keener is paid $400,000.

Joker: Folie à Deux Box Office Prediction

Joker: Folie à Deux finds Arthur Fleck institutionalized at Arkham, awaiting trial for his crimes as Joker. While struggling with his dual identity, Arthur not only stumbles upon true love, but also finds the music that's always been inside him. The film also stars Oscar nominees Brendan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inisherin) and Catherine Keener (Get Out, Capote), alongside Zazie Beetz, reprising her role from Joker.

Now, as we inch closer to the release date of Joker: Folie à Deux which is October 4, 2024, for the West and October 2, 2024, for India, early estimations have rolled in. According to Shawn Robbins in Box Office Theory, the movie is set to earn $150 million in the domestic market. These are massive numbers, considering the post-pandemic effect is still very much evident in ticket sales. It also tops the opening of the first, which had a $96 million domestic opening and eventually grew in a big way later, to enjoy an opening between $120 million and $150 million.

Joker: Folie à Deux hits screens in the West on October 4, 2024, and in India on October 2, 2024. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more information on this and everything else from the world of streaming and films.
