Joker: Folie à Deux released on October 2, 2024, in India and is now finally dropping on streaming.
Joker 2 Drops On Amazon Prime Video On Rent
One has to be surprised by the tragedy that one of the most anticipated movies of the year has suffered in 2024. Joker: Folie à Deux aka Joker 2, was one of the most awaited films for the last two years, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga as Arthur Fleck and Harleen Quinzel, aka Lee. The movie, directed by Todd Phillips, was a direct sequel to Joker (2019), which was the highest-grossing R-rated film until Deadpool & Wolverine took over. But sadly, the sequel, which carried so much excitement, failed to generate the same reaction at the box office and tanked in no time. There were harsh reviews and some support, but that did not help. It turns out, after an upsetting run on the big screen, the movie has already started its streaming journey in India.
As per the latest listing on the Amazon Prime Video app, the streamer has welcomed Joker: Folie à Deux on their platform to stream, but on rent. According to the official Prime Video app, the movie is finally available in India, and viewers can watch it by paying ₹499. Once paid, the movie will be available to stream for 30 days and for 48 hours once you start streaming. However, there is no confirmation on when the movie will leave the rental pool and become available for streaming with a subscription. The film will be available on JioCinema once it completes its time on rental viewing. The first Joker film is also available to stream on JioCinema.
On Amazon Prime Video, the official synopsis for the film reads, “Joker: Folie à Deux finds Arthur Fleck institutionalized at Arkham, awaiting trial for his crimes as Joker. While struggling with his dual identity, Arthur not only stumbles upon true love but also finds the music that's always been inside him.”
According to Comic Book Movie, Todd Phillips spoke about how Joker: Folie à Deux will be the last solo movie we see in this storyline starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga. There are no plans to revive it because the story is complete. "The last day on this one was very different because we were in New York shooting on the stairs with 8,000 paparazzi people," he began. "It was a very frustrating day, so we all wanted to get the hell out of there. But we then had this little get-together downtown at my friend's bar, and it was actually really beautiful. Joaquin and Gaga and everybody was there, and, of course, the crew."
Todd Phillips subtly went on to say how this is where the story ends, and the viewers will understand it when they watch the movie. He added, "Again, you'll see the movie, and you'll go, 'Oh, I get it. The story is told.'" In other words, this is where the story ends. This is certainly not good news for fans who were eager to get an update on Joker 3. Joker: Folie à Deux is in cinema halls as we speak.
