The movie marks the duo’s first collaboration since the critically and commercially acclaimed Nayattu
Actor Joju George and director Martin Prakkat will join hands to produce debutant Rohit MG Krishnan’s police story Iratta. The duo, who had earlier collaborated for Nayattu last year and also produced Charlie, will be backing the film with their respective banners.
Iratta, which will also have Joju in a pivotal role, began shooting in Idukki earlier this week. The film, which is scripted by Rohit and Varkey George, will have a host of newcomers as part of its cast and crew.
In an earlier interview with OTTplay last year, Joju had talked about how Martin has had a pivotal role to play in his career. The actor refused that Martin had given him roles just because of their personal relationship. “Friendship, talent and profession should remain separate. He gave me a small role in Best Actor. After that he didn’t offer me a character in ABCD and for Charlie, he didn’t think I would be apt for a particular role,” he said.
The actor, who was last seen in Jeo Baby’s anthology Freedom Fight , said that Martin is his best friend and he agrees with his decision to not giving him roles because “I should be offered characters when I am able to pull them off”.
The Charlie director and Joju last year collaborated for Nayattu, which had the latter in the lead role along with Kunchacko Boban and Nimisha Sajayan. Joju’s performance won acclaim from critics as well as Bollywood celebs lauding him for how he essayed the character of conflicted policeman on the run. “You could say that when I was eligible for such a role, I got it in Nayattu,” he said.
Meanwhile, Joju has a host of films coming up, including Nivin Pauly’s period drama Thuramukham, Sanfeer’s Peace, Kamal KM’s Pada and Dileep’s Voice of Sathyanathan.
