While Fahadh Faasil on Friday confirmed that his movie Malayankunju will not be a direct-to-OTT release on Onam as previously reported, the actor along with Joji director Dileesh Pothan and scriptwriter Syam Pushkaran will be presenting another film for the festive season.

Titled Paalthu Janwar, the entertainer will have Minnal Murali director Basil Joseph in the lead. Produced under the banner of Bhavana Studios, this is the second time Basil is working with the team after essaying the role of a priest in Joji, which released on Amazon Prime Video last year.

Fahadh, Dileesh and Syam along with its director Sangeeth had come live on their social media page to announce the title of the film and its release date. They also unveiled the first look motion poster of the film that showed a buffalo, a pig and a cow along with Basil’s character who seems to be running a veterinary pharmacy.

Apart from Basil, the film also has Indrans, Shammi Thilakan, Johny Antony, Dileesh Pothan and a host of new artistes. “A cow also plays a pivotal role in the movie,” said Dileesh. Sangeeth had previously worked with the producers in Iyobinte Pushtakam as director Amal Neerad’s associate. The film, which has completed its shooting, has Justin Varghese as its music director and Ranadive as its cinematographer.

Basil, who will be playing the lead role for the second time in two years after the superhit Janeman in 2021, also took to his social networking page to share the poster, which had the caption, “All the animals in this panchayat have a space in my mind and me in theirs.”

Basil wrote that it was his privilege to work with this “fabulous crew alongside a set of amazingly talented co-actors”. The movie will go head-to-head with Alphonse Puthren’s Gold and Mammootty’s Rorschach, both of which are also confirmed as Onam releases.
