Actor Rio Raj seems to have caught his first big break with Joe. The romantic drama has managed to generate quite an interest among the movie buffs.

According to industry sources, thanks to positive reviews and good word of mouth after its theatrical run, the streaming rights of Joe have been acquired by a leading OTT platform. The film didn't manage to find a digital partner before hitting the screens. Following a decent performance at the box office and critical appreciation, Disney+Hotstar has reportedly bagged its streaming rights. An official confirmation on the same, however, is awaited.

Joe made its theatrical debut on November 24. The film was highly endorsed by the leading members of the Tamil film industry, including Lokesh Kanagaraj and Nelson.

"I know I’m late to the party, but #Joe was a nice pleasant watch Loved everyone’s work in it!!," Lokesh tweeted after watching the film in a special screening.

"Enjoyed the movie #Joe was a fun watch with a roller coaster of emotions, congrats da @rio_raj @hariharanram24 @Music_Siddhu @maalvika123mnj @bt_bhavya @vchproduction and team for this success!," said Nelson.

Joe marked the directorial debut of Hariharan Ram S. The film's theatrical reception and glowing reviews from celebrities have created a lot of anticipation for its impending OTT release.

Judging from the trailer, Joe seems to offer a refreshing take on the familiar tale of a complicated college romance and ensuing pain and struggle. At first, it seems like a variation of the Malayalam blockbuster Premam, which deals with heartbreaks and struggles of overcoming the pain of unrequited love.

Joe seems to pack pleasant visuals as it explores a feel-good romance between a Tamil boy and a Malayali girl. Besides Rio Raj, the film also stars Malavika Manoj, Bhavya Trikha, Charle and M. J. Shriram among others.
