Rohit Shetty's cop drama web series and Prashant Neel's Salaar will be available in Kannada

One of the main takeaways from Netflix’s recent south slate announcement is that every Telugu and Tamil original the platform is set to present soon will have multiple audio options, including Kannada. While this is a clear sign that the streamer has taken cognizance of its audience in the state, its stance on procuring original Kannada content remains unchanged. They are not interested. Across platforms, content is increasingly being made available with more than one audio option, and here is a look at the titles that have been dubbed in Kannada and are streaming this week.

Joe

The Tamil romantic drama led by Rio Raj, with Malavika Manoj, Bhavya Trikha, Charle and MJ Shriram, among others on the cast, began streaming as a Pongal presentation. The film is about finding love after heartbreak.

Streaming on: Disney+ Hotstar from January 15

Indian Police Force

Director Rohit Shetty takes his brand of dialogue and action heavy cop drama to the small screen with Indian Police Force, a 7-episode long web series starring Sidharth Malhotra, Shilpa Shetty, Mayyank Taandon and Vivek Oberoi, among others.

Salaar

Director Prashant Neel’s Salaar Part 1 Ceasefire makes its OTT debut in just a month since its theatrical release, unlike his earlier KGF: Chapter 2, or the production house’s Kantara, which had prolonged theatrical runs and, hence, much later streaming dates. The Prabhas-led Salaar’s quick OTT outing is a clear indicator that its theatrical stay has run its course. The film had done fairly well in its Telugu original version and Hindi too, but in other south states it came a cropper, especially Karnataka, where Salaar was known to be the remake of Prashant’s debut Ugramm, albeit made on a much bigger scale. Also starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, Pramod, Tinnu Anand, Naveen Shankar, Jagapathi Babu, Eashwari Rao, Bobby Simha, Garuda Ram, among many others, Salaar will stream in Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Tamil.

Streaming on: Netflix from January 20
