Jimmy Sheirgill and Namit Das will be starring in Netflix's upcoming heist comedy series titled Choona that is set to be directed by Pushpendra Nath Mishra. The series will mark the Ghoomketu director's first venture into the long-form series content format. The project was recently announced by the streamer through its social media handles.

Set to be a heist comedy-drama, Choona will follow the journey of an unlikely group of people who club together to take down a common enemy- a politician who has wronged them, with jugaad as their sole weapon. The series will feature Aashim Gulati, Vikram Kochhar, Monika Panwar, Gyanendra Tripathi, Chandan Roy, Atul Srivastava and Niharika Lyra Dutt alongside Shergill and Das.

In an interview with The Indian Express, talking about the upcoming show, Pushpendra Nath Mishra said, “What comes to your mind when you hear the word Choona? For me, it is the quintessentially Indian flavour of choona lagaana (deceive someone).”

Expressing his joy on working on the project, Mishra further told the publication, “The excitement of discovering who deceived whom and how they did it is incomparable, especially when it’s the weak pitted against the powerful. No synonym can do justice to this feeling. Since we are all about the drama and rooting for the underdogs.”

The director further teased that the upcoming show is the perfect blend of the heist genre with the lightness of a comedy. “Put this together with amazingly talented actors in a long-form series format, and you get Choona,” he concluded.

He also shared that the work on the long-form comedy-drama has already commenced.

Meanwhile, Jimmy Sheirgill was last seen in Rangbaaz Phirse which is available to stream on Zee5.
