Nikkhil Advani's web show Freedom At Midnight is currently being shot. The latest update is that Jim Sarbh has come on board to play a crucial role in the series.
Freedom At Midnight's first look was unveiled earlier this year. As the makers started the web show's shoot, the audiences were introduced to the primary star cast. It was followed by the unveiling of more characters from the series, which will stream on SonyLIV and OTTplay Premium. Based on Dominique Lapierre and Larry Collins' book Freedom At Midnight, the series will narrate India's freedom struggle in the late 1940s. The latest development on the series is Jim Sarbh reportedly being a new addition to it.
A source informed Hindustan Times that Jim Sarbhh has already started shooting for Nikkhil Advani's Freedom At Midnight. "Jim started shooting for his role a few days ago. He was quite excited to try his hands on another historical drama after Padmavat (2019)," the source revealed.
The report further suggests Jim will only be shooting for a few days as he is expected to have a cameo in the series. That said, Sarbh plays one of the major and impactful historical characters, but only for a brief period in the series.
For the uninitiated, Jim and Nikkhil have known each other since they worked on Rocket Boys for the same OTT platform. The filmmaker loves Sarbh's work and that's the reason he was keen to have him on board for Freedom At Midnight.
Meanwhile, the release date of Freedom At Midnight has not been confirmed by the makers yet. However, the release date of the web show is expected to be around mid-next year. "The makeup of Gandhi, the historic set, and the whole aesthetic and theme of the late 1940s is taking time to shoot," a source further told the publication.
Apart from Jim, the star cast of Freedom At Midnight includes Arif Zakaria, Sidhant Gupta, Chirag Vohra, and Rajendra Chawla. Are you excited about watching the series on SonyLIV and OTTplay Premium? Tweet @ottplayapp and share your thoughts on X.
