The entertainer, which introduces the director’s son Sree Kamal as an actor, is bankrolled by Gunturu Ramakrishna under SRK Arts
Popular filmmaker K Vijaya Bhaskar, who delivered some the biggest hits in late 1990s and 2000s - Swavyamvaram, Nuvve Kavali, Nuvvu Naaku Nacchav, Manmadhudu, Malliswari - is returning to direction after a 10-year-long sabbatical. While he last directed the Ram Pothineni, Venkatesh starrer Masala, he’ll now launch his son Sree Kamal with a fun entertainer titled Jilebi.
Jilebi, apart from Sree Kamal, features Shivani Rajashekar as the female lead, and is bankrolled by prominent businessman Gunturu Ramakrishna under SRK Arts. Anju Asrani presents the light-hearted film. While the first look, glimpse of the etnertainer earned good responses from audience, the makers officially confirmed that they’ve finished its filming after a song shoot in Bangkok this week.
On the whole, two songs were filmed amidst scenic locations in Bangkok. With the shoot wrapped up already, the post-production has commenced and the unit is leaving no stone unturned to release the film at the earliest. Rajendra Prasad, Murali Sharma, Getup Srinu, Gundu Sudarshan, Bithiri Sathi play other important roles in the film.
With Jilebi, Vijaya Bhaskar is reuniting with composer Mani Sharma, nearly 18 years after Jai Chiranjeeva (that starred Chiranjeevi, Sameera Reddy, Bhumika Chawla). Satish Muthyala cranks the camera for the unreleased film while MR Varma is the editor. An official announcement about the release date, promotional activity and other details will be out shortly.
Some of the other films that Vijaya Bhaskar helmed include Prarthana, Tujhe Meri Kasam, Classmates, Bhale Dongalu and Prema Kavali. His hit film Nuvve Kavali even won the National award in 2000. Meanwhile, Jilebi’s female lead, Shivani Rajashekar, daughter of actors Jeevitha and Rajashekar, was part of films like Adbhutham, Shekar, Anbarivu, WWW, Nenjukku Needhi before.
