The film's first look
Jiiva's last release in Tamil was Kalathil Santhippom (streaming on Zee5), though his previous outing was the recently released Bollywood flick, 83, in which he played legendary cricketer Kris Srikkanth. He currently has Methavi and Golmaal being directed by Pa Vijay and Pon Kumaran respectively in his kitty. The actor has now wrapped up shooting for his next, which is billed as a rom-com.
Directed by Santhosh Rajan, the film has been titled Varalaru Mukkiyam. Kashmira Pardeshi plays the female lead in the movie which features a stellar cast, including Pragya Nagara, Viji Rathish, VTV Ganesh, KS Ravikumar, Siddiq and Saranya Ponvannan among others.
Produced by RB Choudary of Super Good Films, the project has cinematography by Sakthi Saravanan and music composed by Shaan Rahman. Srikanth KB has been roped in for editing while Brindha and R Sakthi Saravanan have choreographed dance movements and action sequences respectively.
Varalaru Mukkiyam has been shot in Chennai, Hyderabad, Coimbatore and Kerala. The makers are currently busy with the film's post production works and it is expected that an announcement on its trailer and theatrical release will be made soon. The team has released its first look, too, along with the title, featuring Jiiva in a happy-go-lucky avatar.
Meanwhile, Methavi has Raashi Khanna paired opposite Jiiva while Golmaal will have the actor romancing Payal Rajput. The shooting of the former has been put on hold for some time; a crucial portion of the latter's shooting was recently wrapped up in Mauritius.
His last outing in Kollywood, Kalathil Santhippom, which released an year ago, was also bankrolled by Super Good Films. The actor has headlined rom-coms earlier, too, like Endrendrum Punnagai (streaming on Zee5), Kavalai Vendam (streaming on Amazon Prime Video) and Siva Manasula Sakthi (streaming on MX Player).
