Ever since Jigra was released in theaters, the film has been facing allegations that it has copied Divya Khossla-starrer Savi. Jigra, starring Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina, follows a dedicated elder sister (Alia) who goes to the extreme to save her brother, Vedang. The film aptly shows the sibling bond between a brother and a sister who have nobody's back but each other. Recently, Bhushan Kumar's wife, Divya also took a dig at Alia over the 'fake' box office collection of Jigra. Now, in a new interview, filmmaker Vasan Bala reacted to the allegations and said that Jigra has not copied Savi.

Vasan Bala on allegations of Jigra copied Savi

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Vasan Bala denied all the allegations regarding Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina's Jigra.

He shared that Savi (2024), came out when they were editing Jigra. It was already out there. "Everyone can watch it and make up their minds. I don’t really want to bring down anyone or add more fuel. With the false bookings, that, I think, is a distribution question. I don’t think it is that murky at all, but anyone who can investigate and bring out anything is more than welcome," Bala added.

Divya Khossla slams Alia Bhatt for Jigra's 'fake' box office collection

On October 12, Divya Khossla took to her Instagram account to share a picture of an empty theater hall and accused Alia Bhatt of a fake Jigra box office collection.

She wrote, "Went to Citi Mall PVR for Jigra show. Theatre was totally empty … all theaters going empty every where. #Aliabhatt me sach mein Bahut #Jigra hai.. khud hi tickets karide aur fake collections announce kar diye. Wonder why paid media is silent. #weshdnotfooltheaudience #truthoverlies #HappyDussehra Х (sic).” She also tagged Alia and wrote, "Sach Mein Bahut Jigra Hai."

Meanwhile, the OTTPlay review of Jigra stated, "Jigra is a story told through a unique lens, even if it has some predictable notes. Vasan Bala crafts a love letter to Amitabh Bachchan’s Angry Young Man legacy and does it well, but he restrains himself from injecting more of his signature quirk into it."

Jigra on OTT

According to the poster, Jigra will land on Netflix. This will be the fourth Alia Bhatt project to land on the platform in recent times, following Darlings, Gangubai Kathiawadi, and Heart of Stone.
