Jersey song Jind Meriye: Javed Ali’s song from Shahid Kapoor-Mrunal Thakur starrer is a beautiful track, high on emotions

Jersey is a remake of Gowtham's 2019 Telugu film starring Nani

The makers of Jersey, starring Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur, blessed their fans with yet another song from the film titled 'Jind Meriye'. Filled with emotions, the song portrays the intense chemistry between the two characters and inspires one to fulfill their dreams.

Actor Shahid Kapoor took to social media to share announce the release of the song. He shared a glimpse of the video song and wrote in his caption: “Baar baar khilda hai khwaab ik, isnu manawa… Jersey, releasing on 22nd April ♥️ 🏏 💭 Click the link in bio to watch the full video on YouTube.”

Sung by Javed Ali and worded by Shellee, it is a treat to the listener's ears.

But fans will have to wait longer to catch a show of the movie. Much to the fan's disappointment, Jersey's release was postponed by a week to April 22 from April 14 to avoid its clash with the release of KGF: Chapter 2 at the box office.

This postponement, however, comes as a second shocker to the star's fan base. The movie was primarily scheduled to release on December 31, 2021 but the dates were pushed back due to the sudden surge in Omicron cases across India.

Jersey is directed by Gowtham Tinnanuri and produced by Dil Raju, S Naga Vamsi, and Aman Gill. It follows the story of a talented but defeated cricketer who decides to return to the field in his late 30s. Driven by the desire to represent the Indian cricket team, he sets his heart upon fulfilling his son's wish for a jersey as a gift.

Gowtham was also the maestro behind the original National Award-winning Telugu film titled the same. Nani, the lead of the film was all praises for Shahid Kapoor as Jersey's lead during an interview with PinkVilla. "Shahid is a brilliant actor and will get into the skin of the character," he said.

Meanwhile, Mrunal Thakur plays Kapoor's wife in the movie and is co-starred by Shahid's father Pankaj Kapur as his coach. The movie is all set to hit the theaters on April 22.
