Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, Jersey is the remake of the Telugu film of the same name, starring Nani
Shahid Kapoor’s long-awaited Jersey finally hit theatres tomorrow after multiple delays. The actor has now opened up about how the film has impacted him and how it has struck a chord with him.
Talking to Times of India, he said, “It gave me a sense of hope and this drive to never give up, regardless of circumstances. You can get up today to chase something you really want. This is the spirit of this film and I connected deeply with that.”
The actor said that they waited for two years to make the film following multiple delays due to the pandemic. He added that there was no point in releasing a family film when families were afraid of stepping out.
Talking about how Jersey struck a chord with him, the actor said that we often do not feel motivated or excited and are just living our lives and that we need something to chase in life. He adds that you sometimes need to set a goal and want to chase it and this is what Jersey is all about.
Written and directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, the movie is the Hindi remake of the director’s hit 2019 Telugu sports drama, starring Nani. The Hindi movie also features Mrunal Thakur, Pankaj Kapur, and Shishir Sharma among others.
Jersey tells the story of a failed cricketer in his 30’s, trying to make a comeback into the national cricket team after promising his son a signed jersey.
The movie is now available in theatres around the country.
