Within a month of its theatrical release, Jersey gets its OTT premiere. The film will be available on Netflix from May 20, 2022. The film, directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, features Shahid Kapoor, Mrunal Thakur, and Pankaj Kapur in the lead roles. The film is about an ex-cricketer struggling to make ends meet. He wants to realise his child's ambition of acquiring a jersey, but in doing so, he is forced to confront his heroic past and must decide whether he will rise to the occasion and become a symbol of optimism, or continue to live a life as a loser.
A beautiful movie that will inspire you to embrace your aspirations, hopes, and family. Jersey is the Hindi remake of the Telugu film of the same name. The original flick, starring Nani and Shraddha Srinath in the lead roles, went on to win a couple of National Film Awards.
However, the Hindi film went on to become a box office failure. Despite favourable reviews, the film failed to gross even Rs. 20 crore.
Mrunal recently revealed why the film did not perform well at the box office. The actor believes that the original Telugu version of the film was one of the factors that influenced its box office success. Ronit Kamra, who played Nani's kid in the film, also appeared in Shahid's flick.
Mrunal recently informed ETimes about the box office collections, saying that it's a disappointment. Apart from performances, a film's success is determined by a variety of other aspects such as positioning, marketing, and so on. They made every effort possible, and perhaps it's just a phase. There are numerous external factors, and she has no idea what's going on. But, understandably, they are disappointed that it could've done better because it's a terrific film. To be honest, she was feeling down.
Jersey was released on the big screen on April 22, 2022.
