Jersey - Mrunal and Shahid
Jersey Shahid Kapoor's film, eventually opened in theatres on April 22 after several delays. Unfortunately, it was affected by the buzz around Yash's KGF: Chapter 2, which is breaking records at the box office. However, after a slow start, Jersey seems to have gained momentum and had a strong debut weekend at the box office. The sports drama, directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, also stars Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapur in other significant roles.
The sports drama had a rough start at the box office. It raked in Rs 4 crore. According to initial estimates by trade analyst Ramesh Bala, the film made Rs 5 crore on the third day. It's apparent that the box office outcome of Shahid's film was heavily impacted by Prashanth Neel's KGF: Chapter 2.
Jersey is a Hindi adaptation of the Telugu classic film of the same name, starring Nani. The Telugu was also directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri. Shahid discussed his perspective about the movie and character, Arjun Talwar, in an interview with IndiaToday. Shahid further added that he made the character his own in every way he could and he has full ownership of the film and is very possessive about it.
