Jersey Box Office collection day 2: Shahid Kapoor’s film witnesses 50 percent growth

Jersey also stars Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapur in the lead roles.

Shahid Kapoor’s Jersey has seen 50% growth on second day Saturday. The movie worked well thanks to the good word-of-mouth and positive critic reviews. However, since KGF: Chapter 2 has grabbed more screens, Jersey is struggling at the Box Office.

Shahid-Mrunal Thakur’s movie collected Rs. 3.75 crores approximately on day one and on day two, this film minted Rs. 5.75 crores, according to a report on Bollywood Hungama. The final, confirmed numbers of Jersey Box Office are yet to be out.

While Gowtham Tinnauri’s Jersey did manage to hold well on Saturday, the big challenge comes on Sunday. Reportedly, Jersey has been suffering in terms of screens and has only 10% screens available which could definitely affect the movie’s business by a huge deal.

COVID-19 is back and it has affected the Box Office, visibly. Many people from various metropolitan cities have especially held back and are stepping out only if required. This comes as a huge disappointment for Jersey since the movie was already facing trouble because of KGF: 2 and the rising cases do not help their cause either.

Saturday, somehow, saw a growth from Chandigarh and NCR (not Delhi). Chandigarh witnessed 73% growth, according to Box Office India. While things did look up in Bangalore and Mumbai, the final numbers from the cities are not out yet.

Maharashtra, Gujarat and MP have not shown good growth in terms of stepping out to watch movies, especially this one. This could be a major red sign for Jersey since they contribute for huge Box Office collections.

Jersey is not working in major parts of Maharashtra for another reason. Many viewers are excited to watch the Marathi film Sher Shivraj, which, like the title suggests, is based on the great Maratha warrior Shivaji. The film recreates Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Afzal Khan’s fight.

While Sunday will be a big challenge for Jersey in terms of whether the movie is a hit, superhit, blockbuster, flop or super flop, the bigger obstacle will come from Monday. Jersey will have to maintain Friday Box Office numbers and mint Rs. 3 crores or above to remain in theatres. If not, then things might not look up for the movie.

Made on a budget of Rs. 40 crores, Jersey needs to earn at least that money back in order to be declared a hit. The movie is expected to earn under Rs. 20 crores over the weekend and thus, it needs to hold from Monday onwards too.
