Jeremy Renner made his MCU debut back in 2011 with the Chris Hemsworth starrer Thor.
Marvel Studios' upcoming show Hawkeye is all about the holiday season. For the first time, Jeremy Renner reprises his role as Clint Barton, aka Hawkeye, in a solo show, which he initially played in the 2011 film Thor. He teams up with Hailee Steinfeld's character, Kate Bishop, another well-known archer from the Marvel comics. The Hawkeye premiere was recently held in London, where they streamed the first two episodes of the series.
According to Reuters, Renner shared his excitement at the London premiere, stating that it's always fantastic every time he can fit into a suit. Interestingly, Hawkeye marks his sixth appearance in a Marvel outing.
Renner said that he is always happy to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as it helps tell some stories. He said it's different this time because they are telling a six-hour story rather than a two-hour film.
Hawkeye picks up after Avengers: Endgame with Barton preparing to spend the holidays with his family. A threat from his past drives him to abandon his loved ones and join forces with Bishop, a skilled teenage archer and die-hard Hawkeye enthusiast.
Meanwhile, Steinfeld feels simply so lucky to be portraying a character that so many people love and have been excited to see Bishop brought to life for such a long time.
Whereas Rhys Thomas, the series' co-director, called bringing Bishop to the MCU "thrilling" and "scary".
He also added that Bishop has such an exciting, lively, and unique voice, one that hasn't been heard before in the MCU. One will feel a sense of obligation, but he believes Steinfeld goes above and beyond.
Thomas, a self-proclaimed Christmas movie lover, said he thought the setting gave warmth and joy to the storyline of the series.
He went on to say it's a Marvel Christmas special, which they haven't seen before. Thomas added that it's essentially about a man attempting to get home to his family for Christmas.
On November 24, Hawkeye will be available to stream on Disney+ Hotstar.
