After the massive success of Aparajito, the actor will be seen as a historical character

After the success of Anik Dutta’s Aparajito, Jeetu Kamal will be seen in the titular role in Debaditya Bandyopadhyay’s Titumir. According to reports, the actor, who carefully curated the look of Satyajit Ray for Anik’s film that is based on the master, Jeetu has started growing hair and beard. The film may also feature Jim Sarbh as a British officer and Ashish Vidyarthi as a landlord. Produced by Firdausul Hasan, the film is scheduled to go on the floors in September.
As per reports, Jeetu has already started preparing for the character. In an interview with Anandabazar Patrika, he said that he has already started reading history books. “Titumir is an important historic character. We are all aware of his Bamboo Fort. I am trying to go beyond what we already know. I am reading more intricate history books. The more I am reading the more I am hooked to the character,” said the actor.

Talking about his preparations, Jeetu said that it is imminent that an actor changes his character. I am also mentally preparing for the new character. I was given the reference to Brad Pitt’s Troy. I have already watched it three times. The film will be on a large scale – like RRR. There will be VFX involved also,” said the actor. The makers are already in talks with the fight master of Salman Khan’s Kick for the action sequences.
Besides his regular preparations, Jeetu will also be trained in horse riding, fencing and lathi khela – traditional Bengali Martial art. In the interview, Jeetu said that he will be travelling to Purulia for training. “I learnt horse riding for a character in Tarun Majumder’s Durgeshnandini. That film did not materialise for me,” he said.
Prithwiraj Dey – a Jadavpur University graduate – has been doing the research. The director and Pulak Das are penning the script. The shooting will take place in Bolpur, West Bengal, and a temple in Balasore, Odisha.
