Earlier, Farhan Akhtar revealed the challenges with Priyanka Chopra Jonas' dates for the film.
Jee Le Zaraa starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Alia Bhatt, and Katrina Kaif and directed by Farhan Akhtar, was one of the most eagerly awaited movies. However, there have been no significant developments since then, and rumours have circulated that casting changes have caused production delays.
Farhan Akhtar addresses delay speculations:
Recently, Farhan finally addressed the rumours around the film's delay by explaining that scheduling conflicts were to blame. The filmmaker-actor told Variety that they are just having scheduling conflicts, and with the recent SAG-AFTRA strike throwing Priyanka's plans for the film into disarray, he is starting to think the movie's fate is out of our hands. Farhan concluded by saying that the film will happen when it has to, and they will see.
Contradicting statements on script approval:
But contrary to what he claimed, Hindustan Times has now known from reliable sources that this is not the true explanation. Truth be told, Priyanka didn't like the script, so she flat-out rejected it. The actor was expected to sign the deal for the film when she was in India for her sister Parineeti Chopra's wedding with Raghav Chadha last week. But the actor didn't attend the wedding festivities. However, the source explained that the progress was halted due to creative differences.
Creative differences and production halt:
The film, the source adds, has been put on hold for the time being. When a film doesn't go as planned, the director needs time to think of a new approach and decide whether or not to continue telling the story. Since it has been postponed for so long, however, the story is now out of date. The movie's production could be delayed for up to two more years. The insider went on to say that it's important that the plot holds up over time; therefore, filmmakers and screenwriters like Zoya and Farhan look into all these details.
