Calling it an ‘important film’ in present times, the actor said he was grateful to be a part of a film with an important social message.
Jayeshbhai Jordaar promised to be a film where fans could see Ranveer Singh in a never before seen avatar, as a unique kind of ‘superhero’. The actor recently opened up about the social relevance of the film and its message.
In conversation with Mid Day, the actor said “Jayeshbhai is an important film for the times that we live in. It holds up a mirror to some of our society’s ills”. The actor went on to talk about how ‘glad’ he was that he got a chance to be a part of the film, which had a relevant and important social message. He revealed that he had always hoped to be a part of effecting real ‘social change’ through his work.
The actor talked about how he had witnessed social changes happen after a film’s release, and said that he himself had watched films that deeply affected the way he thought. He added that he hoped Jayeshbhai Jordaar was also able to change people’s attitude in a positive way. On his character, the actor said that Jayeshbhai was an ‘average Joe’ who finds the courage within him when he is thrust into a situation that demanded it. He does remarkable things when he begins his journey and ultimately grows because of it.
In addition to Singh, the film also features Shalini Pandey, Boman Irani, Ratna Pathak Shah, and Jia Vaidya in pivotal roles. The film was directed by Divyang Thakkar, and produced under the banner of Yash Raj Films.
Jayeshbhai Jordaar is now playing in theaters. The film will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video after its theatrical run. An OTT release date is yet to be announced.
