The Iranian director and his four crew members are busy shooting in Dhaka
Jaya Ahsan is poised to play a pivotal role in acclaimed Iranian director Morteza Atashzamzam’s latest flick Fereshta. Popular Bangladeshi actress Rikita Nandini Shimu was also spotted with the crew. Both the actors appear to be slum dwellers in the film.
According to a report in Times of India the film received approval from Bangladesh’s Ministry of information and Broadcasting on March 13 under the title CNG. Bairam Fazli, Mokhtari, Mobarekh, Atiya Pirali, and Kavas are among the other Bangladeshi actors featured in the film.
Ahsan and Shimu were spotted near Basundhara, an upscale residential area in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The TOI report adds that the Iranian director and his crew are scouting for several other locations in Dhaka including New Market, Jamuna Future Park. A few stills from the shoot are flying on the web, showing Ahsan holding a three-year-old youngster in her arms. The Iranian crew has a schedule for 20 days.
Meanwhile, Ahsan, a popular face in the Kolkata film industry, has returned to Dhaka to spend Poila Boisakh and Eid with her family and friends.
Morteza Atashzamzam has directed and produced more than 40 independent films, documentaries and television series. Melancholy, his first feature film which was released in 2016, was selected by the Association of Bulgarian Filmmakers for the 25th period Bulgaria's Varna Festival in International Competition. It was also produced by Atashzamzam who has co-written it with Majid Shakrin and Hossein Mortezaenian Abkenar.
Jaya Ahsan started her career as a model in Bangladesh and later as a television actress. She debuted her film career as a guest artist in a Mostofa Sarwar Farooki directorial, Bachelor. Farooki is a big name from Bangladesh on international film festival circuits. Her first Indian Bangla film Aborto (2013) was directed by Arindam Shil. Ahsan was felicitated with Filmfare Awards Bangla 2021 as the Best Actress for her brilliant performance in Binisutoy. It was directed by Atanu Ghosh and was declared the Best Film of 2021 by the West Bengal Film Journalist’s Association.
