It looks like Shah Rukh Khan's latest release Jawan has set the box office on fire. The film, directed by Atlee, released to packed theatres worldwide yesterday (September 8) and it has got a rousing reception from the audience.
Jawan collection in Tamil Nadu
It looks like Jawan is emerging as one of the biggest Hindi releases in recent times in Tamil Nadu. Jawan is estimated to have collected over Rs 150 crore worldwide on day 1 across the world. In Tamil Nadu alone on the opening day, the film is said to have collected more than Rs 10 crore, which is considered massive for a Hindi film in the state. This includes the collections of Jawan in both Tamil and Hindi. The Shah Rukh Khan film released in around 450 screens in Tamil Nadu and was welcomed with arms wide open.
The Tamil touch to Jawan
One of the highlights of Jawan is said to be the presence of many Tamil faces in the film. The film marks the debut of popular Tamil filmmaker Atlee, and has music by Chennai boy, Anirudh Ravichander. The film also has prominent Tamil faces, Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara, Priyamani and Yogi Babu as part of the star cast. The Tamil touch sure seems to have worked its charm among the audiences.
Anirudh thanks the audience on his Hindi debut
Anirudh's music is said to be one of the highlights especially the background score. The ace composer took to his social media handle, to thank everyone for their support. Posting a picture of Atlee and he hugging outside a theatre, Anirudh wrote, "From Alwarpet to Andheri #Jawan. Thank you all for your love towards the movie and the music. Thank you King @iamsrk for everything (sic)."
Jawan on OTT
Meanwhile, the OTT rights for the film have been bagged by Netflix and the film will drop on OTT a month after its theatrical release.
