Javed and Mohsin express joy after bagging an award for Shershaah

Music director duo Javed-Mohsin is on cloud nine after winning IIFA Awards 2022 for Shershaah

Javed Khan and Mohsin Sheikh are on cloud nine after bagging the prestigious IIFA Awards 2022 for their melodious music in Shershaah. The grand award function was recently held on Yas Island In Abu Dhabi. The duo won the best music director award for the biographical war film that features Siddharth Malhotra, and Kiara Advani in lead.

Expressing their happiness after winning the award Javed said, “We have always believed in hard work and it has certainly paid off. This is our first big film award and we are really grateful to Dharma Productions who gave us a chance to compose their film. We kept the faith they showed in us.”

Mohsin further added, "Shershaah is a patriotic film but there is also a romantic track between Siddharth and Kiara running throughout the film. We were asked to express their love and longing through our music. We were very sure from day one that we would do justice to the music of Shershaah. And here we are. Not only did we prove ourselves but also won the Award. We already got so much love from all the listeners but we never imagined that we would be rewarded like this on the global stage.”

The musicians, who are first cousins and belong to a musical family, want to mark this award as just the beginning. “This is just our beginning. We have a long way to go. We want to create songs that will be remembered for a long time. We don’t want to make music for the sake of money. Melody is core to our music and we promise to keep that intact,” Javed said.

Javed Khan's father was a tabla player, Ustad Sharafat Ali Khan. Mohsin Shaikh's father is a writer Mustafa Shaikh. Javed-Mohsin's maternal grandfather was Ustad Fayyaz Ahmed Khan from Kirana Gharana. Imbibing the musical legacy, Javed and Mohsin got interested in music since childhood.
