In the latest Prime Video docu-series Angry Young Men, veteran lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar recently opened up about his personal life and shared that he takes responsibility for his failed first marriage with Honey Irani. On the other hand, Farhan Akhtar also said that he felt betrayed by his father that time.
In one of the episodes of the docu-series Angry Young Men, Javed Akhtar admitted to taking responsibility for his failed first marriage with Honey Irani.
He said that Honey is one person in the world, towards whom he feels guilty, and added that she is the only person. "Sixty-seventy percent responsibility lies on my shoulders, for the failure of that marriage. If I had as much understanding as I have today, perhaps things would not have gone wrong. It is very difficult to accept, but that’s how it is,” Akhtar revealed.

Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhtar are the children of Javed and Honey. During the docu-series, the Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara actor said that post the separation, he went through a lot of emotions, which included feeling “betrayed” by his father.
He shared that there was a phase when he was angry with him, and felt betrayed by him. There were all those very normal emotions that the actor did go through as a child growing up.
Javed and Honey's divorce came through in 1984, immediately after which the lyricist married Shabana Azmi.
The doc-series is a collaboration between Salman Khan and Farhan Akhtar. The three-part series celebrates the creative partnership and legacy of the writer duo Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar. The docu-series is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
