It is not for us to judge if Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan song Besharam Rang is right or wrong, according to Javed Akhtar, who spoke out about the controversy surrounding the song.
With the release of the song Besharam Rang from Shah Rukh Khan's movie Pathaan, uproar erupted over the orange bikini Deepika Padukone was wearing. Many people of the film community, the audience, and the political community have expressed an interest in sharing their thoughts on the matter. Javed Akhtar, a lyricist, has since voiced his thoughts on the matter. Narottam Mishra, the home minister of Madhya Pradesh, has previously stated that the movie's screening should be prohibited if several sequences aren't corrected.
Reacting to this, Javed Akhtar said, “If he thinks there should be a separate censor board for Madhya Pradesh, they (should) watch the film separately. And if they are unhappy with the Centre’s film certification, we should not come in between them, it is between them and the Centre."
He then talked about the recently formed Dharma Censor Board, he said, “There is one censor board in MP, then this is there and one censor board of the centre is also there. What is the problem? We have four-five important ‘dharmas’ and they should have their censors. Maybe then moulvis (under Islam) will start watching films. Do it, do it!"
He went on to say that it is not up to us to judge whether the song is correct or incorrect. "“It is not for me or you to decide whether the song is right or wrong. We have an agency," he continued.
On January 10, the Pathaan trailer was unveiled and received favorable feedback from fans. Shah Rukh Khan will make his big-screen comeback with the movie following his 2018 movie Zero. The movie Pathaan, which also features Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, will be released in theatres on January 25.
