Jason Statham’s spy thriller Five Eyes gets new title; film’s release date also announced

The Guy Ritchie directorial also stars Aubrey Plaza and Hugh Grant.

Guy Ritchie’s upcoming movie, Five Eyes has undergone a title change. The movie will now be called Operation Fortune and is scheduled for a US theatrical release on January 21, 2022.

The announcement was made on the official Twitter handle of the film.

According to Collider, the upcoming spy thriller film led by Jason Statham will revolve around the story of two secret agents, one from MI6 and the other from the CIA, who get enlisted into an intelligence alliance, Five Eyes. Together they embark upon a mission to stop a dangerous piece of technology from getting into the wrong hands.

The real life Five Eyes network is an alliance comprising the countries Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Operation Fortune will also feature Aubrey Plaza, Bugzy Malone, Josh Hartnett, Cary Elwes and Hugh Grant.

While Statham will play the MI6 agent, and Plaza will don the role of the CIA operative.

Operation Fortune will mark director Ritchie’s most recent collaboration with Statham after the 2021 heist film Wrath of Man which also starred Josh Hartnett.

Grant has also collaborated with Ritchie in his 2019 directorial, The Gentlemen. The action comedy also had Charlie Hunnam, Matthew McConaughey, Henry Golding, Jeremy Strong, and Colin Farrell in pivotal roles.

Ritchie, mostly known for his work in the action genre, has many hits to his credit like Aladdin (2019), Sherlock Holmes(2009), and Snatch(2000).

Operation Fortune which began filming in January this year, is written by Ritchie, Ivan Atkinson, and Marn Davies.
