Karthi's Sardar and Sivakarthikeyan's Prince released on the same day last year
Karthi in Japan and Siva in Maaveeran
Both Karthi and Sivakarthikeyan are busy with their respective projects; Raju Murugan's Japan and Madonne Ashwin's Maaveeran. The former is a social drama while the latter is an action flick. Their previous outings, Sardar and Prince, released on the same day in October, as Deepavali releases.
Looks like they are set for another clash, if everything goes well as per plans. Japan and Maaveeran are said to be hitting the screens in June, if we are to go by a few sources. Movie buffs are curiously watching to know if the stars will clash for the third time.
Karthi's Thambi and Siva's Hero, too, had a clash in December 2019. Both the movies ended up as average fares at the box office, unlike Deepavali 2022. Karthi's Sardar, an action drama, outsmarted Siva's Prince, a comic caper, during the festival release a few months ago.
Both Maaveeran and Japan are carrying huge expectations, thanks to the filmmakers who are helming the projects. While Madonne Ashwin is a National Award winner for his debut movie Mandela, Raju Murugan has made a couple of critically acclaimed films like Joker in the past.
Karthi's first outing this year will be Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan 2. Siva will most probably have Ayalaan, too, in 2023, if things go as per plans. The much-delayed sci-fi flick, which has Ramkumar at the helm, has been in the making for quite some time.
The team is busy with the post-production activities for the film which has Rakul Preet Singh essaying the female lead. AR Rahman's music is expected to be the prime highlight of the ambitious project.
