Directed by debutant Abijith Asokan, the upcoming film stars Leela Samson and Jayaraj Kozhikode in the lead
Love during sunset days might seem odd, but an elderly couple’s craving for companionship in the Jananam: 1947 Pranayam Thudarunnu warms our hearts. The trailer of debutant director Abijith Asokan’s film just dropped on Valentine's Day and it's everything we wish changed about finding love during old age.
Headlined by Leela Samson and Jayaraj Kozhikode, the trailer takes us through the lives of an elderly couple whose unusual companionship sheds light on how we perceive companionship – wherein seeking love is restricted to only the youth.
Described as a ‘septuagenarian love story’ by Abijith, the trailer features Leela Samson’s character, a schoolteacher who resides at a retirement home, while Jayaraj is an elderly farmer who works there. Their initial interactions eventually lead them to pursuing a living-together relationship which shocks the commoners of the town. Although the trailer has not revealed much about their past, it seems that they are very much a part of the section of elderly people who are alienated in our society. This alienation could be the reason for them to find solace in each other. Overall, the film promises to highlight the importance of quality time and that old age is not just a phase we go through but also a time to live joyfully and be cherished by society.
