The Prithviraj Sukumaran and Suraj Venjaramoodu-starrer released on April 28, while the megastar’s CBI film is set for a May 1 release

Ahead of his sophomore venture Jana Gana Mana’s release, director Dijo Jose Antony took to his social media page to thank Mammootty, who also has CBI 5: The Brain lined up to hit theatres worldwide on May 1.
Initially, it was reported that both movies will clash at the box office, with Jana Gana Mana and CBI 5 expected to release on the same day. However, the Prithviraj Sukumaran and Suraj Venjaramoodu-starrer zeroed in on an April 28 release, followed by Jayaram and Meera Jasmine’s Makal on April 29. The makers of CBI 5 then announced that Mammootty’s investigative thriller will hit theatres on May 1, a Sunday. This is unusual for a superstar film, but the makers are hoping with it being a long weekend due to the Eid holidays, this wouldn’t affect the initial days’ collection of the movie.
However, the shift of release dates wasn’t the reason Dijo extended his gratitude to Mammootty on Thursday, the day his movie hit theatres. “For the applause that Jana Gana Mana got, I would like to first thank our megastar Mammukka because the movie begins with his narration,” he wrote.
In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Dijo talked about having Prithviraj and Listin Stephen as producers in the movie and how it helped in its production. “I still think having them as producers is the chief reason this movie got made. If it becomes a success after it releases, people would laud the director and team, but to be able to make a movie on this scale, the producers have to first believe in it,” he said.
Jana Gana Mana is a socio-political thriller that revolves around the death of a college lecturer and its ensuing investigation carried out by a cop played by Suraj Venjaramoodu. His method, however, puts him on trial, unearthing shocking revelations about how people’s perception of the case was manipulated.
