Everything about James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU is still a conversation with little visual proof. We only know that the filmmaker and his co-boss are working round the clock to bring their collective vision to life before the deadline they have set for themselves. The first film Gunn chose to write and direct himself is Superman: Legacy. While we know David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan are confirmed for Clark and Lois it turns out James has found The Engineer in María Gabriela de Faría.

What's Superman: Legacy?

For the uninitiated, Superman: Legacy is the first live-action movie that will come out of the DCU. It sits in the second position in Chapter One: Gods And Monsters. While Corenswet was leading the show, James Gunn was busy casting the other pivotal parts and even doing some location recce. It was already said that The Authority will have some part to play in Legacy, but it wasn’t confirmed.

It turns out now that we probably have confirmation that James Gunn is indeed introducing The Authority in Superman: Legacy, and if that is not enough for you to be intrigued, he has even cast an actor to play the big villain against David Corenswet’s Superman.

Who's Playing The Engineer?

As per an Instagram post, María Gabriela de Faría has been cast in the upcoming DCU movie as Angela Spica, aka The Engineer. She will be pitched against David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan, who plays reporter Lois Lane and Superman’s love interest. There are not many details given as to how James approaches this character, but we know she is the big villain. She herself shared the news on Instagram with a funny caption.

Who Are The Authority?

The Authority has its own standalone movie dedicated to it in Chapter One, and The Engineer is a part of the same team. Technically, Superman: Legacy will serve as a launch vehicle for the new team that is joining the DCU. The Authority has hardly had any live-action presence before this. The James Gunn directorial is set to release on July 11, 2025. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more.
