The Rajinikanth starrer is one of the biggest releases Sunil has had post Pushpa
After much anticipation, Jailer has finally hit theatres today. Rajinikanth’s action thriller, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures, has received terrific pre-release buzz, thanks to the music and the well-cut trailer. The ensemble cast comprises Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Vasanth Ravi, Mirnaa, Ramya Krishna, Sunil, Tamannaah, Jackie Shroff to name a few.
While the extended cameos of Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar have left Kannada and Malayalam viewers very satisfied, the surprise segment was the one involving Sunil and Tamannaah in the film. Despite a section of viewers claiming that the second half was a bore (in comparison to the first), a bulk of Telugu and Tamil viewers appear happy about Sunil’s impact in Jailer.
Some portals have also claimed that Sunil’s portions in the film take a dig at a few senior actors in the Telugu film industry. A few, while appreciating the film on the whole, felt the portions featuring the Pushpa actor could be trimmed further for a better viewing experience. Those who liked it said that Sunil will definitely make a mark among family audiences.
Sunil has already had over a dozen releases each in 2022 and 2023 but post Pushpa, there’s no doubt that Jailer is one of his most significant, far-reaching on-screen appearances in his career. He’ll also be seen in a flurry of other Tamil films soon - Eegai, Japan, Mark Antony. Besides Pushpa 2, he’ll be seen in another multilingual Game Changer, headlined by Ram Charan.
The actor-comedian is joining forces with Trivikram again for Guntur Kaaram, which will hit screens for January, 2024. While films like Nuvve Kavali, Nuvvu Nenu, Manasantha Nuvve, Nuvvu Leka Nenu Lenu established him as a comedian, he turned a solo hero with the likes of Andala Ramudu, Maryada Ramanna, Poola Rangadu and Tadakha.
