The film, helmed by Nelson Dilipkumar, opened to packed theatres on August 10
Ever since Superstar Rajinikanth's Jailer hit screens on August 10, it has set the box office on fire. The film continues to smash one record after the other and is on a rampage in theatres. Now, the latest we hear is that the screening of the film was stopped midway in a couple of places in Chennai and Mumbai respectively.
In Chennai, fans of the actor celebrated their matinee icon's film's release right next to the screen and in the process ended up damaging the screen, thus disrupting the screening midway. Hence, disappointed fans had to leave the theatre midway. A video of the same is now doing the rounds on the internet.
Meanwhile, in Mumbai, theatre authorities at a movie hall in Sion, paused the screening as fans celebrated the entry scene of Thalaivar with much gusto. People got up from their seats and began dancing when the 72-year-old made his smashing entry as Muthuvel Pandian and the theatre personnel let them celebrate. The screening was resumed shortly.
The plot revolves around a family man and former jailer Muthuvel Pandian, who is on a mission to track down a powerful gangster who has escaped from prison.
The film has music by Anirudh Ravichander cinematography by Vijay Kartik Kannan and editing by Nirmal R. Taking to his social media handle, the cinematographer dropped a picture with the Superstar and thanked him for the opportunity to work in his film.

The film is bankrolled by Sun Pictures and the action-packed entertainer has set the cash registers ringing. The box office collection announcement is yet to be made by the producers. Interestingly this is the fourth collaboration of Sun Pictures with Rajinikanth after Enthiran, Petta and Annaatthe.
