Rajinikanth in Jailer

Tamil superstar Rajinikanth’s latest blockbuster Jailer, which has broken box office records after its theatrical release on August 10, has finally been released on a streaming platform. The Nelson Dilipkumar directorial’s OTT rights were bought by Amazon Prime Video, which is now streaming the movie in multiple languages.

The film, which is an action comedy-thriller, has cameos from Mohanlal, Jackie Shroff and Shivarajkumar with Vasanth Ravi, Remya Pandian, Mirnaa Menon, Tamannaah Bhatia and Mirnaa Menon essaying pivotal roles.

When and where to watch Jailer online?

Jailer has begun streaming on Amazon Prime Video from September 7. The film is available in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada. Earlier, there were rumours that the movie will be available on Sun NXT and Netflix, but Amazon Prime Video had set the record straight last week, after the movie had crossed Rs 600 crore in box office earnings that it will be releasing on the leading OTT platform.

What is Jailer’s story?

Rajinikanth plays a former cop in the movie, which revolves around his efforts to exact revenge from the people responsible for his son going missing. Malayalam actor Vinayakan plays the villain in the movie, which has music by Jawan composer Anirudh Ravichander.

The movie has already smashed records in South states such as Tamil Nadu and Kerala, where it has emerged as the highest grossing Tamil movie ever. Post the success of Jailer, its producer Kalanithi Maran had awarded cheques and gifted luxury cards to Rajinikanth, Nelson as well as Anirudh.

Rajinikanth’s Jailer vs Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan

Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, which released in theatres on September 7, seems to have also played a part in Jailer’s OTT release. The number of screens for the Rajinikanth-starrer has now decreased with the distributors of Jawan going all out to ensure a wide release across the country for the Atlee directorial, which also has a host of Tamil actors including Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara, Yogi Babu and Priya Mani.
