Rajinikanth fans are not done celebrating the success of his most-latest film, Jailer, in theatres. The Nelson directorial released in theatres on August 10 and has, since, amassed a whopping Rs 500+ crore at the box office. In several centres, the film is still going strong in theatres, and yet, makers Sun Pictures entered a digital streaming agreement with Amazon Prime Video that allowed Jailer to be available to stream within a month. As of today, Jailer is streaming in India on the platform in all languages including Hindi.

Fans who had caught the Superstar in action on the big screen have made a beeline to watch him “again and again” on their screens at home. “Thalaivar Rajinikanth on repeat mode,” is a common refrain seen on social media, ever since the film dropped on the platform. “Everyone watching Jawan, but I am watching Jailer on Prime,” wrote one fan, while another chimed in that even though the film is now on OTT, he will continue to watch it in theatres as long as he can. That’s the power of “Tiger ka Hukum” he reckons. Yet another wrote that the day could not have had a better start than with Rajinikanth. Several also pointed out the film’s technical aspects – the 16:9 ratio for OTT with big images, makes it even more visually pleasing.

As with the theatrical release, the OTT outing also has audiences lauding Nelson’s deft handling of the Superstar, as well as the much-talked about cameos of Kannada star Shivarajkumar and Malayalam star Mohanlal. Jailer follows Muthuvel Pandian, a retired jailer, living with his wife, and his son and family. All is well until his son, also a police officer, investigates the mysterious case of priceless idols being stolen and replaced with cheap replicas. When this threatens the safety of Muthuvel’s family, he draws on his fearsome jailer avatar – Tiger Muthuvel Pandian.
