Bholaa Shankar is megastar Chiranjeevi's latest film which has been directed by Meher Ramesh. The film is the official remake of the Ajith starrer, Vedhalam. Anil Sunkara produced this film on his AK Entertainments banner, the same production house which last made Agent with Akhil Akkineni.

Bholaa Shankar's promotions started off on a dull note. Thanks to the disappointing music album, there was no buzz for Bholaa Shankar. Upon this, the trailer did not meet the expectations of the fans. All this created a very dull buzz for the film. But just three days before the release, the way Chiranjeevi spoke at the pre-release event and stunned all with his political pot-shots at the AP government brought the film back in the news.

The action drama was released on a massive scale across the world on August 11, 2023, to cash in on the Independence Day long weekend. But sadly, the film has opened to a very dull word of mouth across the areas of its release.

On the other hand, Rajinikanth's Jailer was released a day earlier on August 10, 2023. The word of mouth for the Tamil drama in Telugu states has been decent. Now that Bholaa Shankar has opened to a mixed response, the scene has shifted towards the Rajini film. Eventually, the occupancy for Jailer has picked up immensely in areas like Nizam. The bookings in multiplexes for Jailer are also growing quite fastly.

Bholaa Shankar was made on a decent budget but seeing the latest trend, the film's occupancy will surely drop in the next few days. Chiranjeevi films open with 90% occupancy but that is not the case with Bholaa Shankar. Most of the early shows were not even full in many areas. Now that the positive talk has shifted towards Jailer, Bholaa Shankar will surely face a tough time at the box office.
