Jailer box office: Makers of the Rajinikanth-starrer announce the super hit film's worldwide collection

Rajinikanth's Jailer is going hammers and tongs at the box office. The blockbuster film helmed by Nelson is showing no signs of slowing down. The film reportedly surpassed Kamal Haasan's Vikram and Ponniyin Selvan 1 at the worldwide box office recently.

However, the movie is yet to cross PS 1 in Tamil Nadu. But it is likely to achieve it in the coming days and has set a new benchmark for Vijay's Leo which is hitting the screens in October. Sun Pictures, which bankrolled the Superstar's film, announced officially a few days ago that the movie has grossed more than 375 crores.

They had mentioned that it was a tentative figure, hinting that its real collection is more than the revealed number. Now, amid speculations, they have come up with the updated figures. According to the production house, the movie has now made more than 525 crores after its 15 days of theatrical run.

The trade is eagerly looking forward to the film achieving new milestones. Jailer is currently the second biggest Tamil movie in terms of worldwide collection after 2.0, which was released in 2018. The Shankar directorial, starring the Superstar himself, turned out to be a huge success with the help of good numbers from the Bollywood market as well.

What makes Jailer's success more special is that its figures exclude the Hindi market. The movie didn't have a wide release in Bollywood. Nevertheless, it exceeded the expectations of fans who were euphoric over the comeback of Rajinikanth.

This has further elevated the hype associated with the star's next outing which will have Jai Bhim director TJ Gnanavel at its helm. The movie is expected to go on floors soon, and an official announcement is in the offing.
