Rajinikanth and director Nelson Dilipkumar are reportedly set to team up again for the sequel of Jailer, which is tentatively titled Jailer 2. Here is a major update on the project.
Rajinikanth had one of the biggest box office successes of his illustrious career with the 2023-released film Jailer. The movie directed by Nelson Dilipkumar also emerged as one of the all-time biggest blockbusters of Tamil cinema and set quite a few box office records. As reported earlier, Rajinikanth and director Nelson are set to team up again for the upcoming sequel of Jailer. The movie, which is tentatively titled Jailer 2, is reportedly set to have its official launch on August 10, 2024.
If the recent updates are to be believed, Rajinikanth and Nelson Dilipkumar are planning to make a major announcement on August 10, 2024, the day which marks one year of Jailer’s release (you can watch the blockbuster film on Sun NXT and OTTPlay Premium). The grapevine suggests that the actor-director duo and production banner Sun Pictures are planning to launch the project on the special occasion officially. Some unconfirmed reports suggest that the makers are also planning to announce the title of Jailer 2 officially.

Meanwhile, the rumour mills suggest that Jailer 2, which will yet again feature Rajinikanth in the role of ‘Tiger’ Muthuvel Pandian IPS, has been titled ‘Hukum’. For the uninitiated, ‘Hukum’ is the title of the highly popular song number from Jailer, which is composed by young musician Anirudh Ravichander. The upcoming sequel, which is reportedly named after the popular song from the first installment, is reportedly set to go on floors in 2025.

Along with Rajinikanth, the highly anticipated project is expected to feature Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar yet again in the roles of Mathew and Narasimha, respectively. Yogi Babu recently confirmed that he is indeed in talks to reprise his much-loved role in the second installment. Many popular stars of South film industry and Bollywood are expected to join the cast of the film. Anirudh Ravichander will return as the music composer. The project is set to be bankrolled by Kalanithi Maran, under the banner Sun Pictures.
